Did various porter duties (dusting furniture surfaces, bringing in cushions from outside front entry, locking doors when all residents who had checked themselves out on the sign-out sheet had returned for the night, vacuumed dining room of around 100 residents, wrote next days events on the white board, 20 min. security check, etc.) Also designed & edited each month's newsletter after receiving articles, etc. from Assistant Manager.
Record Searchlight, Redding, CA. Insert various ads into hoppers for inclusion into the daily paper, stack bundles of ads and classified sections on pallets, count complete papers going to the dock for distribution, use a pallet jack to move pallets of ads, sort ads for re-insertion into the daily paper, etc.
Design, develop and maintain custom websites for various clients, many of whom can be seen on the Portfolio page at www.pyservice.com. Most of these are real estate related, but others include a hotel on the beach, a church, a wedding & special function florist, a pug rescue society, a citywide mural society, a residential/commercial painter, etc.
Five Brothers Management Services (online). Drive to various properties all over Shasta County to take interior and exterior photos of selected bank-owned properties and write up property condition reports. The photos and reports are then submitted online by applicable due dates.
Real Estate 1, Redding, CA. Maintain two company websites through template applications. Placed ads in the "Record Searchlight" local newspaper and "The Real Estate Book" regularly. Distributed leads to buyers agents daily from several sources. Maintain and distribute monthly newsletter which includes articles, spreadsheets of statistics from local MLS, listing information about available properties. Upload property photos and other information to Google Docs property tracking system. Setup email and website accounts for new agents, helped agents get established on the office printers, etc.
Coldwell Banker, Montecito, CA. Advertised regularly in local and
out of town publications involving in-house ad sales, custom ad design with
camera-ready artwork, property flyer design & printing on HP 5550dn,
HP 4610, HP 4700 printers, FlexMLS Multiple Listing Service input and
maintenance, managed listing files and flyer drawer, ordered business cards
and printing supplies, emailed photos to publications as requested, scanned
and modified property photos as needed, produced CMA's using Lighting CMA
Plus, helped develop agent biographical profiles for use on the company websites,
various custom marketing material design. Worked with over 100 top-producing
agents in what is consistently the highest sales volume real estate office
in Santa Barbara county. Took a pro-active approach to helping the listing
agents present their properties in the best possible way through improvements
in photographic and textual presentation in the MLS, flyers and advertising.
Prudential California Realty, Santa Barbara, CA. Processed escrow
files for agents, all aspects of FlexMLS online, produced property flyers,
special typing projects, maintained company website, taught classes in producing
a CMA, helped agents with computer application & printing problems, set
up client databases for agents, backed up other staff members, maintained
Trust Log.
The Gorilla Group, Santa Barbara, CA. Responsibilities included overseeing
the daily operation of the business, which marketed Gorilla Glue & PVC
cement nationally. Inside Sales, web site design, shipping, Accounts Receivable,
etc. Designed reports & all forms needed to run the business, primarily
using FileMaker Pro, MS Word on a Mac G3 with OS 8.
Channel Islands Marketing, Santa Barbara, CA. After receiving training,
I distributed environmentally friendly products, began building a sales force,
and helped expand the company in the Santa Barbara area.
Kaman Sciences Corporation, Santa Barbara, CA. Primary person responsible
for the Security function. Duties included handling visitor control paperwork,
changing door and safe combinations periodically, ensuring the safeguarding
of information entrusted to this facility, performing security education
for all employees, processing incoming and outgoing registered, certified,
& express mail, preparing UPS & Fed Ex outgoing packages, prepare
for quarterly inspections, shred material as required, perform annual inventory
of and keep records for all Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) and other
company property. All data processing was performed on an Apple Macintosh
IIci using such software as FileMaker Pro, Microsoft Word 5.0, SmartDesign,
and PowerPoint. Designed many electronic and manual forms.
Presidio Personnel Service, Santa Barbara, CA. Worked at a local utility
company as back-up to four secretaries using DISPLAYWRITE 4 and dBASE III
on an IBM PS 2. Included processing paperwork, typing memos, letters, and
reports; filing, answering phones, arranging for maintenance for various
types of office equipment, data entry, and weekly back-ups on an IBM PS 2
and a Datapoint system.
Delco Systems Operations, Goleta, CA. Duties included preparing, tracking,
and inventorying documents using Microsoft Word on an Apple Macintosh II,
and Word 11 on a VAX 11/785.
Santa Barbara Research Center, Information Systems Dept., Goleta,
CA. Duties included developing software for various applications and report
programs, including a configuration data management system, a vehicle fleet
management system, a contract system status review for both SBRC and DELCO,
a system for creating and modifying work breakdown structure files; a system
to interact with ISSCO's TELL-A-PLAN to provide project schedules; and a
major cost-of-quality financial report. The primary language used for all
these systems was FORTRAN, interacting with DCL, SMARTSTAR, SQL, and such
other applications as TELL-A-GRAF and DATATRIEVE on a DEC VAX 8650. Class
knowledge of COBOL on the VAX, BASIC on a Commodore 64, introduction to JCL
and OLM on an IBM 4341. Experience with PARADOX and WORD PERFECT 5.0 on an
IBM PS 2; MICROSOFT WORD, EXCELL, etc. on an Apple Mac Plus.
Santa Barbara Research Center, Transportation Dept., Goleta, CA. Responsibilities included scheduling the acquisition & disposal of leased/owned vehicles and material handling equipment, writing purchase requisitions, processing vehicle expense reports, vehicle inventories, etc. Designed/tested the initial automated system for this database and related files using DATATRIEVE on a DEC VAX 8650.
